As a UON student, you will want to be close to the University of Northampton, but also close to key nightlife areas, supermarkets, shopping centres, gyms and more. • AFFORDABILITY - A key aspect of student life is affordability. While Northampton is considered one of the most affordable student cities in the UK, the cost of rent is still something to think about. It is important to try and secure a student house with an affordable rent that you and your friends/housemates are comfortable with, however affordability is not always everything. It is important that you find a student house that will not only fit your financial needs, but offers a pleasant and enjoyable space to live. • SECURE A UK-BASED GUARANTOR - If you are a UK university student, most private landlords will ask you to have a UK guarantor, which means that they are required to pay your rent if you are unable to. If you are not from the UK and are an international student, it is worth asking your landlord/prospective landlord what their processes are regarding international students and guarantors.
