Hey UON students,
Are you stuck on looking for a student house for the next academic year? Don’t know where to start? Let us help you feel confident finding your perfect student house.
LOCATION - Location is one of the most important things to consider when renting a property as a student. As a UON student, you will want to be close to the University of Northampton, but also close to key nightlife areas, supermarkets, shopping centres, gyms and more. Our student houses here at Northampton Student Housing are close to UON campuses, as well close to nightlife hotspots on Bridge Street, and minutes walk away from local supermarkets.
AFFORDABILITY - A key aspect of student life is affordability. While Northampton is considered one of the most affordable student cities in the UK, the cost of rent is still something to think about. It is important to try and secure a student house with an affordable rent that you and your friends/housemates are comfortable with, however affordability is not always everything. It is important that you find a student house that will not only fit your financial needs, but offers a pleasant and enjoyable space to live. Here at Northampton Student Housing, we pride ourselves on achieving and offering UON students not only affordable prices, but a modern and comfortable home to live in during your university years.
BILLS - A term more than often associated with university student housing is ‘Bills Included’ but what does this mean and how does it compare to student housing where bills is not included. Bills included means that as a student you pay a fixed amount for bills each month given you don’t exceed the provided usage (if applicable), and don’t have to pay a variable amount each month based on usage if bills aren’t included. We offer all our student houses at Northampton Student Accommodation with BILLS INCLUDED via UniHomes.
SECURE A UK-BASED GUARANTOR - If you are a UK university student, most private landlords will ask you to have a UK guarantor, which means that they are required to pay your rent if you are unable to. If you are not from the UK and are an international student, it is worth asking your landlord/prospective landlord what their processes are regarding international students and guarantors. At Northampton Student Accommodation, we ask for UK students to have a UK guarantor who is a home-owner.
So, there we are. We hope that not only that UON students can benefit from these essential things to know when looking for student housing but that other university students can also take these tips on board as well. If you like any of our student properties here at Northampton Student Housing, please do not hesitate to give us a call or drop us an email or alternatively reach out via our social media pages (linked on our website). Good luck and happy house hunting!!!
